Our ceremonial cacao is wild harvested in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the true cradle of cacao.  All of our beans come from nacional fino de aroma heirloom cacao pods which are a beautiful bright yellow in colour and smaller than their larger purple and bitter genetically modified and plantation grown cousins.

Our ceremonial cacao has floral notes and a smooth finish and is not bitter or acidic in taste. Pure, full of flavour and grown as nature intended - you can taste and feel the difference!

How to prepare:

Boil water in saucepan or kettle. Take off the heat or pour into a cup. Add one heaped tablespoon (15-20g) of shaved ceremonial cacao per cup and whisk until blended. No need to mix with milk, real cacao is creamy enough on its own! Add your preferred sweetener and any spices.

Ceremonial cacao is often prepared in the Zapotec tradition with a pinch of cayenne pepper and half a teaspoon of cinnamon per person. The Indigenous Ecuadorians prepare their cacao with a base of guayusa tea (ClariTea) instead of water as it is the sister plant to cacao and according to their 6000 year old tradition is how cacao should be drunk.

Feel free to experiment and find your own way!
